Y2K?
What is it? Y2K is a short form for one of the big problem that occurred in the 20th century. It was also known as the millennium bug. To start, years have four digits. But, for convenience, it was changed to two digits, which meant that year 1998, would be written as just 98. So, as per this kind of a system, the year 2000, would come up as just 00. But, the computers did not recognize 00, as being 2000, but 1900, which made a big problem. To add to this, the starting date for computers and machines was 1st of January 1900, so when it went back to that date, all data stored in the computer just disappeared.
This was a big problem, because all the accounts of people that were stored in the computer would just go to '0', where people would lose millions of dollars, and if they did not know how much money they had, they would get none of their money back. But, as there is a key for every lock, the whole problem had to be solved. So, finally all the banks and machines had to be set to the four digit system, and everything went fine. Finally, everything came back to normal.
